Cherese Thakur

Interrogating judicial decision-making in corruption cases

Cherese has a Bachelor of Laws degree (summa cum laude) and a Master of Laws degree, specialising in Constitutional Litigation, from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Following these studies, she completed a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from the University of Oxford (Mansfield College).

Cherese is a lawyer who is passionate about using the law to fight corruption and public maladministration in South Africa. Her research experience includes serving as law clerk to Judge Malcolm Wallis, the late Justice Thembile Skweyiya, and Justice Cameron. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has worked in diverse areas of law including commercial law, competition law, environmental law, media litigation, and public law.
